Square Watermelons

Check it out – square watermelons:

Have you ever tried to put a watermelon in your fridge?
It doesn’t fit well, right?
It rolls around and wastes space.
It’s definitely NOT a fridge-friendly fruit (hehe).
Well, farmers in Japan have come up with a way to make watermelons more suited
refrigerator storage.
They have started making them square!
And it doesn’t require any genetic modifications, just a square, tempered glass case while the melons are still growing.

Cheepest Diary

Do you keep a diary (or the more manly version…a journal or chronicles)? Or do you wish to keep notes where the notes keep the date automatically? Well here is an awesome trick for you. All you need is notepad.

  • 1) Open a blank notepad file.
  • 2) Type .LOG in all caps at the top and hit enter.
  • 3) Now save the file.
  • 4) After closing the file, reopen it and notice that the date & time is now listed on the second line.
  • 5) Also notice that the cursor is ready for you to start typing on the very next line.
  • 6) Now every time you open it, type something on the next line and then save it, when you reopen it, it will have automatically saved the date and time on the last line.

It keeps a running record of date and time for each save. Now you have a cheap diary! Congrats!

An 18th Century Quote Defines Today's Truth

“Don’t be deceived when they tell you things are better now. Even if there’s no poverty to be seen because the poverty’s been hidden. Even if you ever got more wages and could afford to buy more of these new and useless goods which industries foist on you and even if it seems to you that you never had so much, that is only the slogan of those who still have much more than you. Don’t be taken in when they paternally pat you on the shoulder and say that there’s no inequality worth speaking of and no more reason to fight because if you believe them they will be completely in charge in their marble homes and granite banks from which they rob the people of the world under the pretense of bringing them culture. Watch out, for as soon as it pleases them they’ll send you out to protect their gold in wars whose weapons, rapidly developed by servile scientists, will become more and more deadly until they can with a flick of the finger tear a million of you to pieces.”

Those words were written by Jean-Paul Marat in the latter part of the 18th century, but they are still so true that they could have been written today. Marat (1743-1793) was a physician, political scientist, journalist and one of the more radical leaders of the French Revolution.

Elephant's Doctor

Hello,
Recently I read about Dr. Krishnamoorthy - An ardent conservationist.

Very interesting person. I respect him the most. Dr. Krishnamoorthy (1923-2002) was an extra-ordinary wildlife personality. He was a forest veterinarian who did yeoman service to the cause of India’s wildlife in his long and dedicated career. His work on elephants and contribution to the body of knowledge on elephants are monumental. His inspiring life where, wildlife & natural history and anthrpology & literature combines to show us what it is to lead an elevated life. This is beautifully captured in Jeyamohan’s Tamil short story on him aptly titled 'Yanai doctor'. You could read more on him: Click Here

This story describes the Social Responsibilities of every one human being towards wild life and about Dr. Krishnamoorty's Contributions to Indian Wildlife.

If the above link doesnt work, then you can also read the short story by clicking the below link
